कथन
The hon. Minister has very rightly stated that around 24 AIIMS are in the making and 18 are already functional. This has happened within the last 11 years. I believe the Minister is aware that in 2000-01, when Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee went to lay the foundation of AIIMS Bhubaneswar, there was great hope, and people still cherish that moment. My question is relating to the appointment of retired Professors, Additional Professors, and Assistant Professors of Government Medical Colleges and also from institutes of national repute who may be recruited. This provision is already there, but my question here is whether medical professionals of the Armed Forces are also equally qualified to be recruited in AIIMS so that the vacancy for faculty can be filled up. Another point which I would like to mention here, through you, is relating to non-faculty recruitment. As the Minister has very rightly mentioned, the provision that is prevalent today is that non-faculty recruitment is done on an all-India basis. 27.03.2026 59 The problem actually lies there. For instance, in Bhubaneswar, despite the last 25 years of functioning of AIIMS, there are 935 vacancies in non-faculty positions. Unless you allow regional recruitment or AIIMS Bhubaneswar or other Staff Selection Committees to recruit non-faculty members, it will be very difficult to get local talent recruited there. People being selected from Bhubaneswar cannot go and work in Guwahati or in other places. Will the Minister consider it?
