L. MURUGAN): The DMK Government of Tamil Nadu has stopped and blocked the people who went to worship at Tirupparankunram temple of Madurai in Tamil Nadu. As against the orders of Madurai Bench of Hon. High Court of Madras, the Government of Tamil Nadu and the State Police have stopped the worshippers. The right of worship of these devotees is denied. As per the orders of the Madurai Bench of Hon. High Court of Madras, it was advised to go with 50 CISF personnel and to light the lamp at the top of this hill temple. But the State Government along with their Police Force denied entry to all those who went to the temple for lighting the lamp. Whoever went there were arrested by using force. This is atrocity on the side of the State Government. Every devotee is going there to worship in this temple with the sloganeering of ‘Vetrivel’ and ‘Veeravel’. This worship right has been with the people for time immemorial. In order to appease a particular religious community and for vote bank politics, this DMK Government of Tamil Nadu is blocking entry of the Hindus and snatching away their worshipping rights. There is complete failure of law and order situation in this area. The State Police Department has taken charge of law and order of this area. Instead of maintaining law and order in this area, the Police Force of Tamil Nadu has staged a big attack on the people who went to worship at this temple. The State BJP Head who went to that place was arrested yesterday. Shri Kadeswara Subramaniam, the State President of Hindu Munnani and others 05.12.2025 1027 were also arrested. Whoever went there was arrested. This is an attack on democracy and democratic ideals. This is an attack on worshipping right of the people. In the name of politics, the DMK government of Tamil Nadu is doing all this. I urge that everything should be as per the orders of the Hon. High Court Bench in Madurai. They should be ready to implement the orders of High Court. Don’t you have belief in Judiciary? As per law, the orders were issued by two Judges of the Madurai Bench of Hon. High Court of Madras. Even then, the people were not allowed to worship at this temple. 12.14 hrs At this stage, Shri D. M. Kathir Anand, Dr. Kalanidhi Veeraswamy and some other hon. Members came and stood on the floor near the Table. This is highly condemnable. Police Department is in total control of the DMK Government which is in power in the State of Tamil Nadu. Article 25 of the Indian Constitution provides for the right of worship for every citizen of this country and it is a Fundamental Right as well. Every citizen can worship with freedom. But the DMK Government is blocking the citizens from exercising the right of worship which is a Fundamental Right. This should be discussed in the State of Tamil Nadu. Instead of doing that, they have come here to disrupt the proceedings of this House. I state that as per law, the State Government of Tamil Nadu should uphold and implement the orders of the High Court of Madras. Chairperson, Sir. … (Interruptions) I wish to draw the attention of the hon. Minister for Road, Transport and Highways to the persistent delays and alarming safety lapses in the National Highway 66 construction work across Kerala, particularly, the Aroor–Thuravoor Elevated corridor which has led to multiple accidents, environmental degradation and tragic loss of life. At least, 40 such accidents have been reported from 80 tonne concrete girders collapsing on vehicles in Arumaloor. Beam collapses on the Aroor–Thuravoor service road to a section of the entire NH 66 collapsing in particular the 12.75 kilometre long Aroor–Thuravoor 6-lane Elevated Highway, which is one of the longest flyover in India, is, plagued by poor planning, inadequate lighting and unsafe diversions. These repeated delays and failures suggest that there is something fundamentally wrong with the way the project implementation units in Kerala function and how they are supervised. The PIOs, under the purview of the National Highways Authority of India, must be held accountable for structural failure and negligence. Moreover, a revised completion timeline should be publicly announced along with updates and quartely progress. Sir, I urge the hon. Minister to intervene and order a safety audit of all the ongoing NH construction zones in Kerala and to suspend high risk construction, 05.12.2025 1029 until safety clearances are obtained, and to expedite the process of compensation disbursal for the many victims of these 80 accidents. There is also a need for a systemic review at the Ministry-level, of all actions of these projects implementation units, including increased accountability of the parties responsible for all these accidents in Kerala, to alleviate the public distress, which is widespread, and ensure the safe and timely completion of these highway projects.
